Dr. Lindsey Deol
Why Did You Want to Become a Sleep Dentist?
Growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, Dr. Deol was inspired by her childhood dentist, a woman who not only mastered the scientific and artistic aspects of dentistry but also balanced a thriving career with family life. This early mentor showed Dr. Deol the powerful impact of compassionate care and the profound difference a dedicated healthcare professional can make.
Driven by a fascination with the scientific intricacies of sleep and its impact on health, Dr. Deol was particularly drawn to the challenges and rewards of treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). She realized early on that many people struggle with traditional treatments like CPAP machines, which can often be uncomfortable and intrusive. After witnessing the transformative effect of proper sleep on a person's health, mood, and overall quality of life, Dr. Deol saw an opportunity to dive into a field where she could offer more comfortable, effective solutions.
When speaking about oral appliance therapy, Dr. Deol states that she sees “time and time again how impactful this treatment is on patient’s lives. There is nothing better than hearing that a patient who has slept in a separate room from their partner for years can now share a bed again due to the oral appliance eliminating snoring.”
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Deol's academic foundation was laid at Marquette University, where she participated in the Pre-Dental Scholars Program and completed her undergraduate degree in just three years. She earned her BS in Biology in 2003 and her DDS in 2007 from Marquette University. Following her DDS, she further honed her skills with a General Practice Residency (GPR) at the University of Colorado in 2008.
What Kind of Advanced Training and Experience Do You Have?
In 2013, Dr. Deol achieved a significant milestone in her career by earning the prestigious title of Diplomate of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and proceeded to develop the first AADSM Accredited Dental Sleep Practice in Colorado.
For over a decade, Dr. Deol has exclusively practiced sleep dentistry. She has fabricated thousands of oral appliances and established herself as one of the most experienced sleep dentists in the state. By working side by side with physicians and providers in our community, she ensures patients have the best possible experiences and outcomes. Dr. Deol actively participates in both local and national study clubs focusing on the dental treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and speaks at various professional meetings.
